Catalog Number 1400-PM-ACCSummary of ChangesThis publication contains the following new or updated information. This list includes substantive updates only and is not intended to reflect all changes.About the PowerMonitor Accessory KitThe PowerMonitor™ accessory kit simplifies the installation of a PowerMonitor unit (PowerMonitor 500, PowerMonitor 1000, or PowerMonitor 5000 units) by making all mandatoryinstallation accessories available in one catalog number. All applications require the installation of current transformers for proper power and energy. Proper current transformer selection is required, based on customer application. Fortechnical support, visit rok.auto/support.Include a shorting terminal block in the CT secondary circuit when wiring CTs and the power monitor. The shorting terminal block serves as an intermediary connection point wherewiring modifications can be safely made. The shorting terminal block has a modified factory-installed 9-pole jumper that connects the white terminal blocks (neutral CT connections) to the ground terminal block. To modify the wiring of the power monitor side of the shorting block safely, when the primary conductor is energized, the positive leads of the CTs (black terminal blocks) must beshorted to ground. Never open a secondary winding of a CT if the primary conductor is energized.1. To short the CTs, remove the 2-pole jumpers from the gray terminal blocks and insert them into the positive and neutral terminal blocks for each CT connection (forexample, I1+ and I1- for line 1 current).2. Once the CTs are properly shorted, wiring modifications can be made to the power monitor side of the shorting block.3. After the intended wiring changes have been made, remove the 2-pole jumpers from the CT connections and reinsert them into the gray terminal blocks for storage. For replacement 2-pole jumpers, use catalog number 1492-CJP4-2.Based on specific customer application, additional potential transformers can be required. See Additional Resources on page 2.Topic PageSummary of Changes 1About the PowerMonitor Accessory Kit 1Topic PageAdded precautions for working with current transformers. 1Updated the shorting block diagram. 2ATTENTION: Only qualified personnel, following accepted safety procedures, can install, wire, and service the power monitor and its associated components. Before beginning any work, disconnect all sources of power and verify that they are de-energized and locked out. Failure to follow these instructions can resultin personal injury or death, property damage, or economic loss.ATTENTION: Never open a current transformer (CT) secondary circuit with primary current applied. Include a shorting terminal block in the CT secondarycircuit when wiring between the CT’s and the power monitor. A shorting block, line fuses, and control power fuses are included in the power monitor accessorykit, catalog number 1400-PM-ACC. Shorting the secondary with primary current present allows other connections to be removed if needed. An open CTsecondary with primary current applied produces a hazardous voltage, which can lead to personal injury, death, property damage, or economic loss.IMPORTANT The power monitor is not designed for, or intended for, use as a circuit protective device. Do not use this equipment in place of a motor overload relay orcircuit protective relay.
